Emphasis Menu Options

The table below describes the emphasis and XML tag options.

Properties

This section displays the Properties information.
Note: When selecting Emphasis types, you can select multiple types without reopening the context menu. When finished selecting all desired types, click outside the context menu to close it.
Emphasis Menu Options
Menu OptionDescription & When to Use
BoldThe selected text is set bold typeface.
Italics The selected text is set in italics.
UnderlineUnderlines the selected text. Due to the limitations of E-forms, avoid using underline with non-runtime content.
StrikethroughStrikes the selected text, for example: Your account will automatically renew unless you prevent it. Use strikethrough only when there is a statutory requirement and there is no other way to meet it.
All CapsThe selected text is set in capital letters, for example: BORROWER NAME. Use this option instead of typing the text in all capital letters.
Small CapsThe selected text is set in small capital letters, for example: BORROWER NAME.
Level: InformationalDo not use. Use Italics instead.
Level: EmphaticDo not use. Use Bold instead.
Level: CriticalDo not use. Use All Caps instead.
Font Size: SmallSets the font size of the selected text 2 point sizes smaller than the base font size.
Font Size: LargeSets the font size of the selected text 2 point sizes larger than the base font size.
Custom Font SizeSets the font to the custom size specified in the dropdown menu.
Title FontUse to set the selected text to the title font.
Keep TogetherUse to allow text to wrap in an element, but not allow the text to break between lines, such as in citation references and checkboxes.
Wrap in ‘DefinedTerm’ TagUse defined term tags only when a term is used and defined for the first time.
Wrap in ‘DocumentReference’ TagUse a document reference for text that refers to an external document, such as the Wall Street Journal.
Wrap in ‘Superscript’ Tag The selected text displays slightly smaller and higher than other text. The service mark (SM) in the following example is set in superscript: Initial InterestSM Adjustable Rate Rider.
Wrap in ‘Hyperlink TagThe selected text display as an active Web link (text is underlined and displays in blue) when the document is assembled.
Wrap in ‘XrefTarget’ TagUse Xref target tags to refer to a specific sentence or word in another section of the same document.
