How LinkText/LinkReference PDF Tagging Works
When producing a tagged PDF, the LinkText/LinkReference elements allow authoring of a Superscript footnote marker with descriptive text that is associated to content in the document.
When a Tagged PDF is generated, the system produces the tag for the LinkText description inline with the element it’s associated. The LinkText tag value is read out loud in the context of the document as unsighted users do not visually see footnote notations.
In the following example, notice how the first sentence exists in tag tree and the next tag to follow is the actual footnote description which would be read out loud before reading the second paragraph text.
