Copies and Watermarks

The Copies and Watermarks Card

The Copies and Watermarks card allows you to set the number of copies to generate for each document within the packet. Then, for each copy, you have the ability to set individual watermark properties. Copy and watermark properties can be specified at the packet level or the document level. If properties are specified at a packet level, and nothing is set at the document level, the Packet properties will be applied. If properties are set for a given document, the document properties are applied as it overrides properties set for the packet.

Number of Copies

Use the Number of Copies field to specify how many instances of each document you want printed. The default number is 1, and this value must be 1 or greater.

Note: During package processing, Expere Document Services returns the instance filename within the Expere response (which is used for the PDF filename) and appends a sequential number to the filename when multiple copies are included, allowing for unique filenames when more than one copy is generated. The sequential numbering is added to each copy (after the original) and starts at 2. The following example demonstrates the filenames generated for the Disclosure Document when Number of Copies is set to 3.
  • Packet1-Disclosure_Document.pdf
  • Packet1-Disclosure_Document2.pdf
  • Packet1-Disclosure_Document3.pdf

Watermark Setup

Use the Enable Watermarks field to enable the watermark setup options.

For each copy of the document, you can set an individual watermark. So if you have designated 3 copies for each document in the packet, you can specify up to 3 separate watermarks. Each watermark copy applies to all documents in the packet.

For each watermark, define the following information:
  • Watermark Format. Currently only text watermarks are permitted. Select Text to enable the remaining watermark fields.
  • Watermark Text. Enter the watermark text you wish to display on this copy of the document.
Note: Avoid using the following special characters for watermark text. The package will fail to generate if these characters are included in the watermark.
    • <
    • >
    • &
  • Location. Choose a location for the watermark on the document. Options include: Top, Center, Bottom.
  • Rotation. When you have specified a center location for a watermark, you have the option of rotating the watermark 45 degrees.

Copies and Watermarks

Note: Copy 1 is always the original document, which is why at least 1 copy must be defined. Additional copies designated are the duplicates of the original document. When there are multiple copies selected, they are returned within the packet one right after another.
Number of Copies Results
1 Original Document
2 Original + Copy
3 Original + 2 Copies
Note: Changing the number of copies changes the number of watermarks available. For example, changing from 3 copies to 2 will remove the last watermark section. Changing from 3 copies to 4 will add an additional watermark section for you to define the 4th watermark.
Note: When documents are output as RTF, any watermarks defined for the Packets are ignored, as the Expere Document Engine is unable to process watermarks for RTF format.
