Barcodes, Metadata, and Document Properties

Barcodes, metadata, and document properties are all interrelated components. This section documents the interdependency of these three components, including the following:

  • Barcodes may be defined for each package, and apply to all documents in the packets within a package.
  • Metadata variables may be used as part of the barcode configuration. Metadata variables allow the definition of document-specific values to be included within the barcode. (For example, to include the document name within the barcode.)
  • Metadata values are defined for the Package, and the values are specified as part of the Document Properties.
