Working with Policies
What is a Policy? What is a Policy Type?
A policy type is a grouping of related default data items. Each line of business can have multiple policy types, and the policy type and the data within that policy may also be different. A policy can be created for the variations of defaults that can be supported based on different product offerings. That policy is then asigned to the product to which it applies. Only one policy of each policy type may be assigned to a given product. However, a policy may be assigned to multiple products.
For example, you may have a Document Selection Policy Type containing defaults that can be set for a series of documents your organization wishes to always include. In this example, assume there are two policies created for that policy type, with defaults set differently to support variations in which documents are preferrred for different product offerings. When defining the product, the appropriate policy can then be assigned to use for the Document Selection Policy Type.
Working with the Policy List
The Policy page displays a list of the policies available to you. Use the column headings (Policy Name, Policy Type, Content Source Alias, Line of Business, Last Updated, or Last Updated By) to sort the policy list.
