Import / Export
Users with administrative rights may need to import or export OPPSA related information for the following reasons:
- If multiple environments exist (i.e. Test, Integration, Production), the export/import functions can be used to transfer data from one system to another to minimize manual re-entry of data.
- If experiencing OPPSA related issues, users can export specific information and send it to Wolters Kluwer Financial Services for testing and troubleshooting.
- Users can import existing data to create a new OPPSA database.
The Import/Export tab allows users to export and import the following:
- Organizations
- Policies
- Products
The Import function may be used to import/create new organizations, policies, or products, or to update existing data, or a combination of both. The import recognizes the difference between new and existing data. If the data does not yet exist, the import process will create those items. If the data already exists, the import process collects a list of those files and prompts the user to select which files to replace data (replacing data is a complete overwrite of all data from the exported XML; it is not a compare/delta replacement).
The import process performs an initial validation check to ensure the logged in user has permissions to all appropriate organizations before processing any of the files. If the initial validation passes, the import continues and performs processing in two sub functions to ensure that the organizations exist prior to creating new policies/products:
- First, it gathers all organization files to build a hierarchy based on the data in the organization XML files. It then imports each of those organization files in correct processing order to build the structure top-down. If there are any issues with importing the organization files, an error will display and the process halts.
- Once all organizations are imported successfully, the process continues and imports all policy and product files. If there are any issues with import the policy/product files, an error will display and the process halts.
