Exporting Information

The Export function allows users to export OPPSA Organizations, Policies, and Products. Each Organization, Policy, and Product is exported as a separate XML formatted file and all files are combined into a single ZIP file.

Before You Begin

  • User must have System Administrator privilege to use Import/Export functions.
  • User can only Export files for Organizations they have access to.
  • The Export function produces an XML file for each item selected and combines all XML files together into a single ZIP file.
  • Export only those files that need to be imported. The exported filenames are named based on the name given in the application. There is no indication if the file is an organization, policy, or product. If only a subset of the files need to be imported, it may difficult to know which files to select if the user performing the import function is not familiar with the naming convention in the application.
  • If the export includes new policy or product files for an organization that does not yet exist in the imported environment, the organization file must be included and it will be imported first before creating the policies/products.
  • If there are multiple organization levels in the hierarchy that need to be imported, all organizations in that structure must be imported to create the entire structure. If both organizations and policy/products need to be imported/created, it’s recommended to do the import in two steps. First, export just the organization files and import to the new environment and validate the structure matches the exported environment. Then, run the import process a second time to import the policy/product files.
  • The organization structure and short name of the organization must be the same between the export and import environments as the import process matches on the short name to locate the organization where to add/replace data.
