Records of Certain Extensions of Credit and Transfers Into and Out of the United States
Treasury regulations also require that you keep records of the following for a period
of five years.
- Extensions of credit over $10,000. A record of the name and address of the borrower, the amount of credit, the nature or purpose of the credit, and the date of the credit for every extension of credit over $10,000 other than that secured by real property. [31 CFR 1010.410(a)]
- Transfers into or out of the U.S. A record of each advice, request, or instruction received or given regarding a transaction resulting in a transfer of currency, other monetary instruments, funds, checks, investment securities, or credit of over $10,000 to or from any person, account, or place outside the U.S. [31 CFR 1010.410(b)]
- Transfers out of the U.S. A record of each advice, request, or instruction given to another person regarding a transaction intended to result in the transfer of funds, currency, other monetary instruments, checks, investment securities, or credit of more than $10,000 to a person, account, or place outside the U.S. [31 CFR 1010.410(c)]
