Summary: This release includes the ability to specify the package name rather than the EZ Config package ID when using the Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets component to configure packages. A number of changes were made to the program to accommodate this functionality; specifically a number of APIs have been removed and other APIs have been added to EZ Gateway to support this functionality.

Supporting changes have also been made to DGS and/or EDS for this feature. Refer to the Document Generation Services changelog WK Hosted Expere changelog for specific details.

Removed Unused APIs
Summary: We have removed a number of unused APIs from the program. These APIs were decommissioned within a previous release, and with this release have been completely removed from the program. These changes were made in support of the Package Name feature.
The following APIs are no longer available:

QR Barcodes Available
Summary: This release includes changes to support the ability to use QR Barcodes. The QR Barcode has the same options available and same pattern as all other barcode types.

The QR Code (Quick Response Code) is a matrix, or 2D, barcode that features fast readability and greater storage capacity in comparison with standard UPC barcodes.

New STS Permissions
Summary: This release includes changes to the STS Permissions for Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets users.
Note: These new permissions allow you to segregate duties more easily within EZ Config Packages and Packets.

The following additional permissions are now available:

View Packages and Packets: Allows a user to access and view information within Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets. User cannot perform copy, edit, import, or export functions.

Bulk Copy Packages and Packets: Allows a user to perform a bulk copy in Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets and to view all information. Users with this permission are able to access and view all information within Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets.

Edit Packages and Packets: Allows a user to make changes within Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets with the exception of performing import, export, or bulk copy tasks. Users with this permission are able to access and view all information within Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets.

Export Packages and Packets: Allows a user to access export functionality within Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets and to view all information. Users with this permission are able to access and view all information within Expere EZ Config Packages and Packets.

The new permissions are not part of any predefined roles. In order to use these permissions, you should create a new role and assign one or more permissions according to how you wish to segregate job functions or duties.

AppPool Identity User Parameter
Summary: This release includes the addition of a new transform variables to provide a way to set the identity of the AppPool user to something other than Network User. If you wish to continue to use Network Services, you do not need to change this variable.

If the UseAppPoolUser is set to true, the AppPoolUserName, AppPoolUserDomain, and AppPoolUserPassword should also be specified.

If the UseAppPoolUser is set to false, or if this variable does not exist, the default Network Service user will be used.

Support for Internet Explorer (IE 11) Discontinued
Summary: Internet Explorer 11 will enter End of Life on June 15, 2022. Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or bug fixes for this software after the End-of-Life date.

As a result, Wolters Kluwer is moving forward with plans to end operational support for Internet Explorer 11 when using the following hosted applications:

  • DocViewer
  • Expere Document Services
  • Document Generation Services
  • EZ Config Default Data
  • EZ Config Packages and Packets
  • Expere Document Portal
  • Fulfillment Manager

Our product team has tested and certified the aforementioned products on Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome. If you have not done so, please utilize either Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome starting with the June production deployments of these applications.

New Feature: Package Setup Report
Summary: This release includes a Package Setup Report, which is intended to provide information about all the packages set up within Packages and Packets and to assist with troubleshooting and support.

The reports are generated as .CSV (comma-separated values) files and can be opened in a spreadsheet and take advantage of spreadsheet functionality, including filtering, sorting, etc.

Generate Report Page

To access the Report function, click More in the left-hand navigation panel and select the Report icon to open the Generate Report page. Use the Generate Report page to generate the Package Setup Reports.

  1. Select a Report Type (required): Content URI Report, Print Order Report, or Details Report.
  2. Select an Alias (required), then select one or more Line(s) of Business (required).
  3. Enter a File Name for the report (required).
  4. Click Download.
The following reports are available:
  • Content URI Report: Returns a list of Package IDs and the Content URI for each of the packages.
  • Print Order Report: Returns a list of all the documents in the packets for each package for a selected Alias and Line(s) of Business.
  • Details Report: Returns a list of all the details of the package, including barcode information, metadata, and full packet details (such as copies, print order, etc.).
