Creating a Barcode Cover sheet for a packet

Some users may wish to add a barcode cover sheet to single or more document packets in a package through a specific REQ tailored to create a barcode cover sheet. This REQ is available for inclusion in your content library; contact your Professional Services representative for more information.

How it works
  • An REQ file has been specifically created for use with document packets. In order for Expere to identify it as a barcode cover sheet, the REQ Document ID must contain the words barcode cover sheet so as to differentiate it from other cover sheets (e.g. Recordable cover sheets).
  • To enable total packet page count, the barcode cover sheet must contain %PacketTotalPages% in its BRCD pattern, created in EZ Config Package and Packets as Packet Metadata.
  • If a packet contains multiple documents,
    • All documents are generated first
    • The cover sheet is generated last in order to correctly calculate the page count
    • The cover sheet order configured in EZ Config Packages and Packets is honored by the Expere Engine

UseCoverPage

The UseCoverPage element allows users to indicate that cover sheets will be produced for all documents that cannot handle barcodes in the tagline; for example: documents using integrated disclosure stylesheet and select static and embedded PDF documents. The UseCoverPage element is used within the SelectAndGenerate and Generate API calls.

This option is not required; however, if selecting this option, cover sheets will appear.

Additional Guidelines

Barcode cover sheets are only generated when the following conditions are met:

  • Form_Barcode field does not exist on any page AND
  • Ancillary output barcode request contains <UseCoverPage>true</UseCoverPage>
