Why is Variance Permitted no longer an option for Variance Type?
The Comparison of GFE and HUD Charges section of the HUD Settlement Statement requires the disclosure of Charges that Can Change (i.e. fees not subject to variance restrictions). Fees designated as Variance Permitted are included in the Charges that Can Change section. The Comparison of Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosures Fees table on the Calculations Page includes those fees that are subject to a 0% and 10% tolerance only; therefore, the selection of blank replaced Variance Permitted in Variance Type.
Selecting blank indicates that there are no variance restrictions and allows you to streamline your Variance Type selections. For information on fees paid by lender see the following question, 'Why is Variance Type blank for fees paid by lender?'.
