Copying a Role

The features of an existing role can be copied to a new role in order to quickly create a new similar role.

For this example, a role will be copied for the fictitious financial company, Vesstar Financial Retail East.
Note: You cannot copy a role across organizations.

To copy a role:

  1. From the Navigation menu, select ROLES.
    The Roles page is displayed.

  2. Locate and hover over the role you wish to use as the source role. In the example above, Loan Officer is selected from the Vesstar RE organization.
  3. Hover over the selected role and click COPY ROLE.

    The Role Pop-up window is displayed.

    The window is already populated with the existing role's features.
    Note: The name of the role is appended at the beginning with the text Copy of. You cannot create a role with the exact name as an existing role. Attempting to do so results in the following message:

  4. Change the Role Name to reflect the features of the new role. For our example, the Role Name is changed to Loan Officer (no Remove rights).
  5. Make the desired changes to the role settings. For this example, the Loan - Remove option was cleared, preventing a user with this role from removing a transaction.

  6. When all desired changes have been made, click SAVE.
    The new role is created and the Roles page is displayed with the new role.

    Note:
    • The copied role is considered a non-inherited role.
    • If the associated organization has child organizations the copied role will be available to them as an inherited role.
