When HMDA Applies is selected, how is the Universal Loan Identifier (ULI) created?
The Universal Loan Identifier is your organization's twenty-digit Legal Entity
Identifier(LEI) followed by a loan or application number (up to a 23 characters) and
ending with a two-character check digit.
- The LEI is entered in the Charter section on the Organizations page in Administration and displays in the Universal Loan Identifier in the HMDA area on the Loan Definition page after HMDA Applies is selected.
- The Loan Number defaults after the LEI. Changes made to the loan number will continue to default to the Universal Loan Identifier until you manually change the value in the Universal Loan Identifier. If you delete the defaulted value in the Universal Loan Identifier, the Loan Number will default again.
- The ending two characters of the Universal Loan Identifier are based on the LEI and loan number. The two characters update when either the LEI or loan number changes.
Universal Loan Identifier Characteristics
- The Universal Loan Identifier may be letters, numerals, or a combination of letters and numerals.
- The Universal Loan Identifier must be unique within the organization. If you enter a Universal Loan Identifier already used on another transaction in your organization, a validation message displays altering you to enter a unique identifier.
- The Universal Loan Identifier cannot include any information that could be used to directly identify the applicant or borrower.
- Any special characters in the Loan Number will be removed when the Loan Number defaults to the Universal Loan Identifier.
