DITA Authoring

This topic briefly explains the use of DITA for authoring Next Gen documentation.

All documentation delivered for Next Gen products will be authored using an XML data model known as The Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) and published as Web Help (see below). This will help to provide effective reuse of content across all product documentation.

Essentially, DITA is a structured method of authoring documentation using a subset of the XML language specifically designed for technical communications. This, along with other technology elements, allows for easy reuse of content and multiple formats of delivery (Web Help, PDF, print, etc.).
