Symbologies are designedto encode numbers,letters, specialcharacter controlcharacters, or a combination of any of the three. Two kinds of barcodesymbologies exist:
§ Discrete: every character in the barcode can be interpreted individually without referencing the rest of the barcode
§ Continuous: individual characters in the barcodecannot be interpreted individually.
