Output formats are used to define how certain entries are presented in the system. The goals behind output formats is to provide consistency in how certain values are presented and to ensure compliance with regulations regarding presentation.
In the Requirements Editor, output formats are defined in the PRT Editor in the Output Format drop-down list. You can select a format for the active field or element in the Outline Editor perspective using the PTR Editor.
In the PTR Editor, a PRINTFORMAT function can be used in the PTR. Unlike an output format, this isn’t applied to the field as a whole, and more than one of the output formats can be used within a single DTA. When using PRINTFORMAT function in the PTR, the output format will need to be set to Blank, String, or Raw to achieve the desired results.
