Server Tools XEP Edition Installation

The Server Tools are installed from a CD (or DVD). Installation of the Server Tools is handled through an MSI file and can be found on the product CD (release media) in the ExpereServerToolsInstaller folder in the XEP folder. You can install the program from the CD directly or copy the installation files to a folder on your computer.

The Server Tools include the Expere Administration Tool, Doc Preview Builder for Apache XEP tool, and the Customer Facing Outline tool. The Expere Administration Tool provides repository management features for Expere content. The Doc Preview Builder tool is used to create document previews as PDF files in a batch process outside of the Requirements Editor based on the RenderX rendering engine. During installation, you must confirm that you have obtained a valid software license for the RenderX rendering engine through Wolters Kluwer Financial Services, Inc. The Customer Facing Outline tool is a command line tool used to generate document outlines, also in batch, outside of the Requirements Editor.

The Server Tools install independently of the Requirements Editor and there is no requirement to have the Requirements Editor installed on the same computer as the Doc Preview Builder tool.

There are two options available when installing the application; default and advanced.

Default: Installs the application to the default install location and for all users on the machine.
Advanced: Installs the application and provides options to customize the installation by selecting an install folder and to install for a single user on the machine.

The following files are distributed as part of the installation package.

MSI: ExpereServerToolsInstaller_XEP.msi
CAB: A collection of three *.cab files that are opened by the installer during installation. These files must exist on the same folder as the MSI file.
