Comparing Files

  1. Click the Compare Files link.
  2. Browse for the Baseline document(s).
  3. Click the Browse button to display the Browser directory. Browse to the desired file.
  4. Click Baselines.
  5. Select the check box to select the desired baseline document(s). To select all files, click the Select All check box at the bottom of the list.
  6. Click OK to bring the selected files into the baseline set list on the Compare Files page.
    The Add Selected Items button moves the selected files to a dataset list at the bottom of the screen. The user can browse between directories to add other files before moving them into the baseline set list on the Compare Files page.
  7. Click the Browse button to access the Target document or set of documents. The Browser directory appears. Browse to the desired Target file.
  8. Click Targets.
  9. Click the check box to select the desired target document(s). Click the Select All check box at the bottom of the list to select all the documents.
  10. Click OK to bring those files into the target set list on the Compare Files page.
  11. A document list appears in the baseline and target set lists. Users can now add the documents to the compare list at the top of the screen.
  12. Click the baseline document to highlight.
  13. Click the corresponding target document to highlight.
  14. Click on the Add All button to bring those documents into the top compare list.
    Users can now compare the document set. To compare multiple sets of documents, repeat the steps above.
  15. Click the Compare button upon completion.
    Note: The system generates a .diff file for each set added to the compare list. The .diff list will have a link to the baseline (B), a link to the target (T) and a link to the results (document name.diff). It also provides a breakdown of the Additions, Deletions, Modifications, Moves, and a total of all of these changes.

    To view the compare file, click the document name to open Adobe Acrobat Reader. Users can print the document through Adobe Acrobat Reader.
