Activating Security in WebSphere

Steps 1 - 7 apply to Admin Console instances that do not currently require a username and password for access.
  1. Open the Admin Console.
  2. Select Security > Global security.
  3. Select Security Configuration Wizard.
  4. Check Enable application security.
  5. Select Local operating system.
  6. For the primary administrative user name: enter the name of a user that currently exists on the server hosting WebSphere.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. Restart your server. The following steps apply regardless of whether your Admin Console was secured previously.
  9. From Security/Global security/Authentication select Web and SIP security.
  10. Select General settings.
  11. Select the Authenticate when any URI is accessed option.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Save your changes.
  14. Stop and restart your WebSphere instance
