The DDV user interface is tabbed with one or more panes within each tab. The Precedence Structure, Document Requirements , and Autoselection tabs all display the organization hierarchy in an expandable tree view on the left and data in panes on the right. Many of the other panes display data in a column/row paradigm with spreadsheet-like functionality such as sorting by clicking on the column heading or expanding the column width to fit the data by double-clicking on the right edge of the column heading cell. The application opens with the tree navigation collapsed and without data in the panes. Expanding the organization hierarchy loads the data dictionary into the tool. The first data load requires the most time while all of the data is loaded into memory; subsequent data requests require significantly less time to complete.
