Adding the Signature Highlight Feature
- Open the XTemplate in I32 Forms Design 6, then navigate to the folder where the XTemplate is stored and change the Files of Type to XTemplate Document (.xml) rather than the default of .sfx.
-
From the Draw toolbar, select the Signature Tool and draw a
rectangle in the signature area to be highlighted.
Note: This will be a separate field on top of the existing area for signature. This additional field is needed for boxing around a signature, highlighting a signature, and for E-Signatures. -
E-Signature fields must have the .eSig extension and
E-Signature Date fields must have a .eSig.eSigDate
extension. With the Signature/Date selected, select the Field tab (within
the Properties pane), and verify the field description has the proper
extension.
The Description names for the Signature (.eSig) and Date (.eSig.eSigDate) need to be formatted correctly. Example below: “EsignatureArea1”

Note: Without this extension, the E-Signature and E-Signature Date will not work correctly for downstream workflows. -
Once the rectangle is drawn, in the Properties pane for that box, select the
line color and enter the hex for the desired highlight color.

Note:- The highlight color should be #FFFF80
- While the Properties > Object window refers to Line Color, the entire area within the rectangle will be filled with the indicated color.
- When all signature areas have been defined, save the updated template as a .xml file.
- Import the updated XTemplate into Requirements Editor.
- To edit the fields in the PTR window or Field Grid, see Modifying the PTR for the Signature Areas - Static/PDF. This topic includes additional PTR Highlighting information.
