Installing the FOP Font Metrics Builder

Before installing the FOP Font Metrics Builder, ensure the target computer has the Visual Studio 2013 Shell (Isolated) redistributable package installed and meets the system requirements defined in the Prerequisites section of this guide.
This topic describes how to install the FOP Font Metrics Builder using the default installation. The default installation installs the application to the default location and does not provide any options to install for all users or to select additional components.
  1. Navigate to the RequirementsEditor folder on the CD or location of the installation files on the target machine.
    • Install directly from the Expere Authoring CD (\\RequirementsEditor\FOPFontMetricsBuilderInstaller folder)
    • Copy the installation files (FOPFontMetricsBuilderInstaller.msi and cab1.cab file) to a folder on the target machine.
  2. Select and open FOPFontMetricsBuilderInstaller.msi.
  3. The installation program first checks your system to ensure disk space and dependencies with any other Wolters Kluwer Financial Services applications installed on your computer. It will return standard Windows Installer errors, if any are encountered. Once complete, the Setup Wizard dialog opens.
  4. In the FOP Font Metrics Builder Setup Wizard, check the valid licensing agreement box.
    • For a default installation: click Install. The installation wizard begins the installation process, which may take several minutes. Proceed to the final step.
    • For an advanced installation: click the Advanced button. Proceed to the next step.
  5. Select the type of installation to perform.
    • Select Install just for you to install the program in a manner specific to the user account on the target computer in the [LocalAppDataFolder] folder (for example, C:\Users\UserFolder\AppData\Local). The shortcut location is defined in: C:\Users\user.name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Wolters Kluwer\Requirements Authoring.
    • Select Install for all users of this machine to install the program on the target computer, available to all users, in the default program files folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolters Kluwer\FOP Font Metrics Builder). The shortcut location is defined in: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Wolters Kluwer\Requirements Authoring.

  6. In the Destination Folder dialog box, click Change to select a folder to install the program to or accept the default program folder and click Next.
    This option is not available if using the Install just for you option. The default program file location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolters Kluwer\FOP Font Metrics Builder.
  7. In the Ready to install FOP Font Metrics Builder dialog box, click Install.
    The installation wizard begins the installation process. This make take several minutes.
  8. In the Completed the FOP Font Metrics Builder Setup Wizard dialog box, click Finish.
    The installation wizard closes and the FOP Font Metrics Builder is successfully installed on the machine.
The FOP Font Metrics Builder is installed on your computer. The application is available in the programs menu under the Wolters Kluwer >Requirements Authoring folder as FOP Font Metrics Builder.
