Installing Server Tools

Before installing the Server Tools, ensure the target computer has the Visual Studio 2013 Shell (Isolated) redistributable package installed and meets the System Requirements.
This topic describes how to install the Server Tools using the default installation. The default installation installs the application to the default location and does not provide any options to install for all users or to select additional components. The installed server tools include: Expere Administration Tool, Doc Preview Builder, and Customer Facing Outlines tool.
  1. Navigate to the RequirementsEditor folder on the CD or location of the installation files on the target machine.
    • Install directly from the Expere Authoring CD (\\RequirementsEditor\ExpereServerToolsInstaller folder)
    • Copy the installation files (ExpereServerTools.msi and *.cab files) to a folder on the target machine.
  2. Select and open ExpereServerTools.msi.
  3. The installation program first checks your system to ensure disk space and dependencies with any other Wolters Kluwer applications installed on your computer. It will return standard Windows Installer errors, if any are encountered. Once complete, the setup application is displayed.
  4. Select the valid licensing agreement option.
    • For a default installation: Select Install. The installation process begins, which may take several minutes. Proceed to the step 8.
    • For an advanced installation: Select the Advanced button. Proceed to step 5.
  5. Select the type of installation to perform and click Next.
    • Select Install just for you to install the program in a manner specific to the user account on the target computer in the [LocalAppDataFolder] folder (for example, C:\Users\UserFolder\AppData\Local).
    • Select Install for all users of this machine to install the program on the target computer, available to all users, in the default program files folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolters Kluwer\Expere Server Tools).
  6. Select Change to select a folder other than the default in which to install the program, or accept the default program folder and select Next.

    This option is not available if using the Install just for you option. The default program file location is C:\Program Files (x86)\WoltersKluwer\Expere Server Tools\.
  7. Select Install.
    The installation process begins. This make take several minutes. A progress idicator is displayed during the process.

  8. When complete, selectFinish.
The Server Tools are installed on your computer. The Expere Administration Tool and Build Doc Previews tools are available in the programs menu, under the Wolters Kluwer/Requirements Authoring folder as Requirements Admin and Build Doc Previews respectively. The tools are installed to the Program Files folder at C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolters Kluwer\Expere Server Tools.
