Working on Overlays

Before you can add objects to an overlay or change its layout, you must activate the overlay. While your overlay is active, you cannot make changes to your form page. The form page will automatically be deactivated when you activate the overlay. The page and any other overlays associated with it will be grayed out in the tree.

You can choose the way you want to display your inactive pages and overlays. You may hide them, display them grayed out, or display them normally. Graying out the inactive page is usually the best way to work on an overlay, as you can still see the page objects for positioning. The Show option allows you to see what the completed page with the overlay will look like.

Note:

The display option you choose for your inactive pages and overlays applies to all inactive objects, so it also affects the way inactive text, data field, and graphic objects are displayed.
