Using Overlays

Overlays can be used to customize standard forms. They allow you to create new individualized forms by adding text, graphics, and data fields to a base form without altering the base form page.

For example, suppose your company creates a standard form that you distribute to several clients. Although they each use the identical form, they need their individual company names and logos on the form. By using overlays, you can create a form for each by simply loading your standard form and applying customized overlays to each page. The customer-specific fields, text, and graphics are added to the overlays. When the page is printed, the base page and the overlays print as one page.

When SFX forms are saved, overlays automatically become embedded in the file. Overlays for XTemplate forms can either be embedded in the form or referenced externally.
