Selecting Individual Objects
The simplest way to select an individual object is to use your mouse. However, you can also select individual objects with the keyboard. The latter can be quite convenient when you are editing text boxes because you don’t have to take your hands off the keyboard.
To select a single object with your mouse
1. Select the
from the tool bar.
2. Click on the object you want to select.
Reminder:
If you want your mouse pointer to return to the selection tool after you use a drawing tool, deselect the Keep Tool option on the View menu. The Keep Tool option does not apply to the text editing tool.
To select a single object from among overlapping objects
1. Place your mouse pointer over the object you want to select:

2. Click on the top object of the group of overlapping objects.
3. Keep clicking in the same spot until you reach the object you want in the stack.
Hint:
If you are not sure which object is selected, check the status bar. The currently selected object is displayed on the left.
To select an object with the arrow keys
1. Press the arrow key (
,
,
, or
) that points in the general direction of the
next object you want to select. The selection box will move to the next logical object
in that direction.
2. Continue pressing arrow keys until the selection box is positioned on the object you want to select.
