Making Dictionary Changes during a Spell Check
While you are running a spell check, you may find that you want to make changes to your user dictionary. You can add or delete words “on the fly” through the Check Spelling dialog. You can also open or change dictionaries if you find that you have the wrong user dictionaries open or need to open an additional dictionary.
To add words with the “ignore” option during a spell check
1. Select the dictionary from the Add words to list box.
2. Click
and the currently flagged word will be added. The spell checker will then ignore the
word and continue checking.
To add words with other options during a spell check
1. Click
in the Check Spelling dialog box to display the Dictionaries
dialog.
2. For each word you want to add, do the following:

Type the word in the Words text box at the top of the dialog box.

Select the type of Action you want to take for the word from the Action drop-down list.

If your action choice is Auto Change or Conditionally Change,enter the “replacement” word in the Other word field.

Click the
button. The word will appear in the list.
3. Click
to exit from the Dictionaries dialog. You will return to the Check Spelling
dialog.
4. Continue with your spell check.
To delete words from a dictionary during a spell check
1. Click
in the Check Spelling dialog box to display the Dictionaries
dialog.
2. For each word you want to delete, do the following:

Highlight the word in the list.

Click
. The word will be removed from the list.
3. Click
to exit from the Dictionaries dialog. You will return to the Check Spelling
dialog.
4. Continue with your spell check.
To open a dictionary during a spell check
1. Click
in the Check Spelling dialog box to display the Dictionaries
dialog.
2. Click
. The AddDictionary File dialog will appear.
3. Double-click on the dictionary file you want to open.
4. Click
to exit from the Dictionaries dialog. You will return to the Check Spelling
dialog.
5. Continue with your spell check.
To close a dictionary during a spell check
1. Click
in the Check Spelling dialog box to display the Dictionaries
dialog.
2. In the Files list box, select the dictionary file you want to close.
3. Click
. The file will be removed from the list.
4. Click
to exit from the Dictionaries dialog. You will return to the Check Spelling
dialog.
5. Continue with your spell check.
