Setting Your Default Directory

Before you save your first form, you should set the default directory for your form files. Then that folder will be opened automatically whenever you save a new file or open a saved file. This is done on the Directories tab of the Options dialog. Whatever location you associate with the SFX extension will be the default directory for both SFX and XTemplate files. If you do not set a default directory for your SFX files, you will be prompted to set one each time you save or open a form.

There is a folder named SFXs in your Forms Design 6.0 directory (located in Program Files\I-32 Forms Solutions unless you installed your application in a different location). You can use that folder for your default directory, or you can create another one if you prefer. If you work with both SFX forms and XTemplate forms and want to keep them separate, you can create separate subdirectories in your default directory—one for SFX files and one for XTemplate files.

To set your SFX default directory

1. Open the Tools menu and select Options to display the Options dialog.

2. Select the Directories tab.

3. Click on the Location field for the SFX file type. A will appear at the right of the field:

4. Click . The Browse for Folder dialog will appear:

5. Select the drive anddirectory where you want to save your SFX files.

6. Click . The drive and directory will appear in the Location list:

Hint:

If you want to save your files in different folders based on form type, customer, or other grouping, create subdirectories in the SFXs folder for your groups. Then set the default path to the SFXs directory. That way you will only be one mouse click away from the folder where your file is stored.
