Setting Form Creation Defaults

When you first install I-32 Forms Design 6, your initial form creation defaults are set for you:

  • The default form name is “Untitled.”

  • Your first page is created automatically when you create your form.

  • Your pages are automatically given the same name as the current form with the page number appended to make the name unique.

  • The default form type is SFX.

You can change all of these options to suit your preferences in the Options dialog.

To set default options

1. Open the Tools menu and select Options to display the Options dialog.

2. Set or change your options.

3. When you finish selecting your options, click to close the Options dialog and save your settings.

To change the default form name

1. Display the New Form Defaults tab.

2. Type the name you want for your default form name in the Name field under Form. This name will be given to each new form you create.

To set the default page naming convention

1. Display the Workspace tab.

2. Set the Name pages based on form name option as follows:

  • Check the option if you want to give your pages the same name as the form name with the page number appended.

  • Remove the check if you want to use the default name of “Page” with the page number appended.

To enable or disable automatic page creation

1. Display the Workspace tab.

2. Set the Create a new page on new form creation option:

  • Check the option if you want your first page created automatically.

  • Remove the check if you want to create your own first page.

Note:

Usually, it is best to leave this option checked because you will need to create a first page anyway. However, if you assemble your forms from third-party, you may want to disable it so you don’t have to delete the unwanted page. If you name your pages based on the form name, you may also find it more convenient to disable this option so you don’t have to rename your first page.

To set the default form type

1. Display the Workspace tab.

2. Set the Create new form in XTemplate format option:

  • Check the option if you want your new forms created in XTemplate format.

  • Remove the check if you want your new forms created in SFX format.

Note:

The default form type for new forms does not prevent you from creating forms in the other format. It simply sets options such as file saving to default to XTemplate preferences and enables features that can only be performed in XTemplate forms. The actual file type is determined when the file is saved.
