Combining Text Boxes

You can also combine two or more text boxes into a single text box. The text boxes must all be on the same page. When the text boxes are combined, the text from the first box will be placed first, the second will be placed second, etc. The new text box will be the size of the selection box. When text boxes are combined, the text will be given the attributes of the first text box. Font formatting, however, is usually retained.

Note:

Although you can combine non-adjacent text boxes, this command usually works best if the text boxes are adjacent. Non-adjacent text boxes often overlap other objects after they are com­bined and a good deal of rearranging may be needed if your page is particularly dense.

To combine adjacent text boxes

1. Select the text boxes you want to combine:

2. Do one of the following to combine the text:

  • Right-click and select Combine Text Boxes from the context menu:

  • Select Combine Text Boxes from the Edit menu:

  • Click the on the tool bar.

The text in the text boxes will combine to form a single text box:
