Specifying the Exact Position on the Page

Objects may be positioned relative to the page both horizontally and vertically by specifying the exact position on the Object property page. The positioning properties are in the Size and Position property group. X is the horizontal position and Y is the vertical position. These positions are relative to the top and left edges of the page, not the margin.

Note:

If you prefer, you can enter the position in a unit of measure other than the one you specified as your default by adding pt, in, cm, or mm after your number. I-32 Forms Design 6 will convert the value to your selected unit of measure.

To specify an exact horizontal position on the page

1. Select the object you want to position.

2. Click on the X value field:

3. Enter the horizontal location you want. The X location identifies the position of the left side of the object based on the ruler measurements:

To specify an exact vertical position on the page

1. Select the object you want to position.

2. Click on the Y value field:

3. Enter the vertical location you want. The Y location identifies the position of the top of the object based on the ruler measurements:

Note:

The X and Y fields in the property page can also be used to determine the exact position of a selected object. The coordinates always identify the position of the upper left corner of the object.

Note:

You can align a group of objects horizontally or vertically by specifying the X or Y location on the property page. Keep in mind, however, that, if you assign the same X and Y coordinates to a group of objects, they will be positioned on top of each other.
