Inserting Text and Images from Outside Sources
Both text and bitmap images may be copied from outside sources, such as graphics programs and word-processing programs, and inserted into your form page.
Creating a new text box with copied text
When you insert text, I-32 Forms Design recognizes it as text and creates a text box. You will find this feature particularly useful for forms with substantial text sections. You can enter and edit your text in your favorite word processor, then paste it into your form to create a text box.
To create a new text box with the copied text1. Cut or copy the text from its original source.
2. Return to your form page and do one of the following:
-
Right-click anywhere on the form page and select Paste from the context menu.
-
Select Paste from the Edit menu.
-
Click
on the command tool bar. -
Press
+
on the keyboard. -
Press
+
on the keyboard.
3. Your pointer will change to
and an outline of the text box will
appear.
4. Position the text box outline on your form.
5. Click your left mouse button and a new text box containing the copied text will appear. The text will be formatted with your current text box defaults in your default font.
6. Change the font if necessary.
7. Use the sizing handles to resize the text box so your text is displayed correctly.
Note:
Formatting applied in your word-processing software (justification, paragraph indents, line spacing, etc.) is not transferred to your text box. You will have to reformat the text in I-32 Forms Design.
Pasting a bitmap from another source
When you insert a bitmap from another source, I-32 Forms Design recognizes it as an image and creates an image object. This provides you with a way of inserting bitmap images into your form when you have a copy of the image (such as a picture in a document) but do not have the source file.
To paste a bitmap from another source1. Cut or copy the image from its original source.
2. Return to the form page and do one of the following:
-
Right-click on the form page and select Paste from the context menu.
-
Select Paste from the Edit menu.
-
Click
on the command tool bar. -
Press
+
on the keyboard. -
Press
+
on the keyboard.
3. Your pointer will change to
and an outline of the image will
appear.
4. Position the image outline on your form.
5. Click your left mouse button and the image will appear on the form page.
6. Use the sizing
handles to resize the image so that it is displayed correctly. Don’t forget to press
if you want the image resized proportionally!
Note:
Vector images created in “draw” programs can also be inserted with this method. They will be converted to bitmaps when they are placed in your form. Therefore, the quality may suffer. Also, they do not size well.
