Hiding Data Field Definitions

By default, both data field descriptions and data IDs are displayed in the fields on your screen. However, to get a better idea of what the form looks like, you may want to “hide” these attri­butes. You can also choose to display one or the other instead of both. If you hide both the field description and the data ID, you will see only an outline of the field on your form. Whenever you select the field, both the description and the ID will appear in the field.

Note:

Because inline fields expand to fit the data they contain, they shrink to one character in length when both the data ID and description are hidden, unless you have assigned a Display Size to the field for testing purposes.

To hide the field description

1. Open the View menu and select Show/Hide.

2. Deselect Field Description on the Show/Hide submenu.

To display the field description

1. Open the View menu and select Show/Hide.

2. Select Field Description on the Show/Hide submenu.

To hide the data ID

1. Open the View menu and select Show/Hide.

2. Deselect Field ID on the Show/Hide submenu.

To display the data ID

1. Open the View menu and select Show/Hide.

2. Select Field ID from the Show/Hide submenu.
