Exporting and Importing Dictionaries
You can export a dictionary file and import it into another dictionary. The exported files are saved as text files with a .TXT extension.
Exporting dictionary files
The Export Dictionary dialog is similar to the Save As dialog that appears when you save a file. You may want to use the export option to create “core” dictionary files that you can import later when creating a new dictionary or to save a copy of an existing dictionary before making changes to it.
To export dictionary files1. Select Options from the Tools menu to display the Options dialog.
2. Click
on the Workspace tab. The
Dictionaries dialog will appear.
3. Select the dictionary you want to export from the Files list.
4. Click
. The
Export Dictionary dialog will appear:

5. Enter a name for your exported file in the File name fieldand
click
. The file will be saved with a .TXT extension.

Click
to close the Dictionaries dialog. You will
return to the Options dialog.
7. Click
to
close the Options dialog.
Importing an exported dictionary
Importing a dictionary you exported is a fast way to add words to a dictionary or to combine several dictionary lists into one list. When you import a dictionary, you import the entire dictionary file. All words in the imported dictionary are added to your selected dictionary. You cannot pick and choose your words.
To import words from another dictionary1. Select Options from the Tools menu to display the Options dialog.
2. Click
on the Workspace tab of the Options
dialog. The Dictionaries dialog will appear.
3. Select the dictionary you want to add the file to from the Files list.
4. Click
. The Import Dictionary dialog will appear:

5. Double-click on the file you want to import. You will return to the Dictionaries dialog and the words from the file you selected will be included in the list.
6. Click
to close the Dictionaries dialog. You
will return to the Options dialog.
