Distributing Objects Equally

Objects can be distributed horizontally or vertically with equal spacing between them. You define the area where you want to distribute the objects by resizing the selection box. You may use either the tool bar or the context menu to distribute them. If there is not enough space in the selection box to space your objects, the objects will be aligned adjacent to each other with no spacing between them. The selection box will expand to accommodate them.

To distribute objects horizontally with the context menu

1. Enclose the objects you want to distribute in a selection box:

2. Drag the left side of the selection box to the position you want for the left-most object:

3. Drag the right side of the selection box to the position you want for the right-most object:

4. Right-click anywhere in the selection box to display the context menu.

5. Select Align or Distribute from the context menu. A submenu will appear:

6. Select Distribute Horizontally from the submenu.The objects will be dis­tri­­buted equally within the selection box:

To distribute objects horizontally with the tool bar

1. Enclose the objects you want to distribute in a selection box:

2. Drag the left side of the selection box to the position you want for the left-most object:

3. Drag the right side of the selection box to the position you want for the right-most object:

4. Click . The objects will be distributed equally within the selection box:

To distribute objects vertically with the context menu

1. Enclose the objects you want to distribute in a selection box:

2. Drag the top of the selection box to the position you want for the top-most object:

3. Drag the bottom of the selection box to the position you want for the bottom-most object:

4. Right-click anywhere in the selection box to display the context menu.

5. Select Align or Distribute from the context menu. A submenu will appear:

6. Select Distribute Vertically from the submenu.The objects will be dis­tri­buted equally within the selection box:

To distribute objects vertically with the tool bar

1. Enclose the objects you want to distribute in a selection box:

2. Drag the top of the selection box to the position you want for the top-most object:

3. Drag the bottom of the selection box to the position you want for the bottom-most ob­ject:

4. Click to distribute the objects vertically. The objects will be distributed equally within the selection box:

By using the distribution tools in combination with the horizontal and vertical alignment tools, you can easily align and space groups of fields and tables.
