Directory Defaults

You will save time while you are creating your forms if you do not have to search for directories containing your form files, images, pages, overlays, or data dictionaries each time you need to open or save a file. We have given you instructions for setting default directory paths when we showed you how to open, save, and export files. Now that you know what you are doing in I-32 Forms Design 6, you may want to reorganize the way you store your files and reset the default directories. Directory defaults are set on the Directories tab of the Options dialog.

If you do not want to set directory defaults at all and are tired of seeing the Set Default Location message, you can disable the message. You may also want to disable it if you do not want to set defaults for some of the file types that you use very seldom or that do not have a practical default.

To set directory defaults

For each file type you want to set a default for, do the following:

1. Click on the Location field for the file type. A will appear at the right of the field.

2. Click . The Browse for Folder dialog will appear:

3. Select the drive anddirectory you want for the default.

4. Click . The drive and directory will appear in the Location list and the Browse for Folder dialog box will close:

To disable the Set Default Location prompt

The next time the default location prompt appears, do the following:

1. Check the Don’t show this message again check box:

2. Click to close the dialog box without setting a default.

Note:

Disabling the message does not prevent you from setting defaults. You can do that at any time through the Options dialog. It just keeps the message from showing up and annoying you.
