While creating and using a ditamap is not required for creating reusable content, a ditamap file is required for providing a "shell" for the content used for navigation and Table of Contents creation.

This topic explains how to create a ditamap within Oxygen.

  1. Click File/New.

  2. In the New dialog, if "Map" is not displayed in the Recently Used folder,
    expand Framework templates, then DITA > Map > map.

  3. Click Map.
  4. Click Create.
