The Profiling Attributes setting allows you to turn Profling Attributes on/off. Profiling attributes allow you to apply attributes on a text fragment, on a single element, or on multiple elements in the same time. See Applying Profiling Attributes for detailed information. This setting is useful when using topics that contain multiple product/audience attributes and is applied to your Profiling Condition sets when creating webhelp and PDF outputs.
You can turn Profiling on/off (Show Profiling Attributes) in the following:
- In a DITA topic, independent of a ditamap view, you can show/hide profiling through the DITA menu (DITA > Profiling/Conditional Text); also the toolbar icon (funnel)
- In a DITA map you can show/hide profiling through the DITA Maps menu (DITAMaps > Profiling/Conditional Text); also the toolbar icon (funnel)
DITA Maps>Profiling/Conditional text menu option

Profiling Attributes in Author Mode
In the example below, the <li/> element has been selected and an Audience attribute applied. Selecting on any of the audience attribute values (highlighted in green) displays a checkbox with a comprehensive list of audience attribute values. Attribute values selected here in turn filter content that will/will not appear in your webhelp or PDF outputs.
For example, the <li/> element has the following values selected/applied:
- DocOne
- DocOne-ARM
- DocOne-Commercial
- DocOne-Consumer
- DocOne-Default
- DocOne-Deposit
- DocOne-Forms
- DocOne-HE
- DocOne-Indirect
- DocOne-IRA
The <li/> appear in any output that uses these Audience attribute values in the selected Profiling Setting. Values not included in the Profiling Setting will not appear in the resultant output.
