Common Features

Overview

IDT provides several common features that are available throughout the application, ensuring a consistent and productive experience regardless of which module you're using. These features are designed to streamline your workflow and enhance productivity.

User Interface Elements

Navigation Menu

The main navigation menu appears on the left side of the application window and provides access to all major modules:

  • Dashboard - Overview of your publication activities and quick access to common tasks
  • PubAssist - Tools for managing and executing publication workflows
  • Tools - Provides access to:
    • SharePoint Repository Search: search the InfoDev DITA repository
    • Oxygen Content Fusion: Used for the documentation review cycle
    • Oxygen Settings Backup and Restore: Allows you to backup and restore your Oxygen XML Editor customizations
    • Log Viewer: Provides access to the IDT log. Useful for reporting issues.
  • Admin Tools - Provides access for administrators to database maintenance features

You can collapse the navigation menu by clicking the toggle icon at the top to create more workspace. Collapsing the left nav menu displays the top nav in the top toolbar.

Top Toolbar

The top toolbar provides quick access to common actions and information:

  • Top Nav - When the left nav is toggled using the top left nav button, the top nav buttons are displayed.
  • Links - Provides access to various common InfoDev tools and sites
  • Notifications - View system messages and alerts
  • More Menu - Provides access to application featrues such as Help, Release Notes, Settings and more

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Connection Issues
  • Verify network connectivity by checking VPN status. IDT requires access to the InfoDev (Azure) file system in order to connect to the IDT database.
  • Restart the application to reestablish connections
